What is Vertical Wine Tasting?

Have you ever experienced a vertical wine tasting? It has nothing to do with sipping in an upright position, although that is the preferred posture when drinking wine.

A vertical tasting is designed to showcase a variety of vintages (harvest years) of the same wine from the same winery.

Structured tasting, provides the wine taster a sense of the quality variations that can occur because of yearly climate, winemaking staff changeover or the advancing age of vines at a particular vineyard. It’s a great way to get a sense of how certain variables can influence a wine.
